Cancer HealthCare Associates uses only the best and most advanced technologies and treatments at our advanced facilities, which we designed to help our patients feel comfortable, relaxed and right at home while they receive the superior care they deserve.

Our main office is at University of Miami Hospital, in Miami. We also have other convenient locations at Aventura Hospital and Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Center. Click here to view our locations and obtain directions.

Here are some highlights about our facilities and the technologies we use:

  • The Aventura Comprehensive Cancer Center, a 31,500 square-foot center, provides extensive outpatient services, including superior screening, diagnosis, treatment and education capabilities, as well as compassionate research-based care. The facility also features the advanced Synergy S precision technology. Click here to learn more about the Aventura Comprehensive Cancer Center.

During radiation treatment, organs may shift (as in the rise and fall of breathing) and affect the location of the target, or the target change shape or size as a result of previous treatments. The Synergy S combines a linear accelerator with an integrated 3D volume imaging system that enables us to visualize the target and immediately make any necessary adjustments in the patient's position to ensure that we detect precisely on the target. This system enables us to target the radiation dose at the specific tumor or lesion and spare the surrounding healthy tissues, so many patients who are no longer candidates for other treatment methods may be candidates with the Synergy S.

  • Our 1,500-square-foot Miami Brachytherapy Center at the University of Miami Hospital campus features the most effective and cutting-edge technologies.

Our Varian high-dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy equipment delivers high-intensity radiation directly into tumors through fine needles. These fine needles are deployed from computer-controlled afterloaders that move the radiation source on a wire within the needles according to our prescribed treatment plans. The total dose is delivered in a series of treatment sessions.

Varian supplies VariSource™ and GammaMed™ afterloaders, as well as BrachyVision™ treatment planning software and applicators, for this therapy.

We also utilize Varian's new Vitesse™ module, which Varian recently added to its BrachyVision software to streamline prostate HDR brachytherapy. This module helps us turn many treatments from overnight hospital stays to outpatient procedures. With Vitesse, we can transfer ultrasound images generated during needle placement directly into the BrachyVision software, eliminating the need for CT scans, and making it possible to complete a treatment plan within minutes. Among the many benefits this system provides for our patients, Vitesse helps contain the cost of treatment and makes the experience better for our patients.
